Ownership of forests

Privately owned forests cover the largest portion of forests. Slightly above 70% of all forests in Slovenia are privately owned. The Archdiocese Ljubljana is a big forest owner, whereas the remaining forests are mostly owned by small forest owners. An average forest estate in Slovenia measures 2,5 ha.
